biography

Well here goes...

I'm from the NE of England and started playing the trumpet when I was about 9 (more than 20 years ago) crikey, I'm getting old!!

I went to a music college to do my degree (trumpet).  After that I spent some time as a freelance trumpet player.  I performed with professional orchestras and opera companies in the UK.

In 2000, I was given a scholarship to take part in the Lake Placid International Trumpet Seminar in New York.

Really love a lot of classical music but also play in a big band, a concert orchestra and an R n B function band.

Now really enjoy classroom music teaching in a school in NE England.

Really enjoy listening to stuff on the amp.

Short Film Music Piece

June 25th, 2011 + 5:06 AM  ·  PRG

Hi

It's been a long time since I've uploaded anything for various reasons. This is a short film-type piece. A kind of Dragon Slaying whilst hurtling through space type of thing!

I'd be grateful for comments.

Cheers

Action Film Soundtrack

June 11th, 2009 + 6:06 PM  ·  PRG

Just thought I'd try something different.  A soundtrack-style piece in a more electronic genre than I usually lean towards.  I'm really trying to hone the production side of my stuff at the moment so any comments on that side would be appreciated too.

Catch Me If I Fall

April 16th, 2009 + 8:04 PM  ·  PRG

This is a new song.  A ballad.  Everything is played by me and I've really tried to concentrate on the sound quality of mix and mastering.  I know singing is not a forte of mine!

What do you think?

Any comments gratefully accepted.

Will I Ever Get Out

July 5th, 2008 + 6:07 PM  ·  PRG

Hi everyone.  It's been a long time since my last upload but I'm hoping to add more soon.

For anyone that is interested, this song is a response to this news article -

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7419969.stm

One of the most incredible blunders I have ever heard of.  I added a bit of a fictional story element to it too.

Constructive feedback would be appreciated.

Summer Day

August 16th, 2006 + 7:08 PM  ·  PRG

Hi there everyone.

This is my new song.  The music, lyrics, performance and mixing are all my own (so that means I'm the only one to blame if it sounds bad...gulp!)  All the sounds are VST instruments played in via keyboard except my singing and the flugel horn playing, which is me playing live into my mic at home.

I'm hoping that my cubase skills have improved since my last upload but I'd still appreciate any feedback.

I feel that it sounds a bit like the Lighthouse Family in places - Don't know if that pleases me or not!!!!

Lyrics (if anyone's interested)

In the summer, I go walking
And the breeze, it blows my mind
Past the trees and stream, such a lovely sky
I can leave my blues behind

In the village I see an angel
She smiles at me from her window
Such a shame, I may never see her again

I go strolling down to the river
Fish come up to speak to me
As I look down at my reflection
I see angel sitting with me.

Hope you like it.
